Welcome to Veggie Platter, that happens to be a collection of vegetarian and vegan recipes from India and around.
Most of the Indians learn cooking from their mothers. Usually the recipes in a family are passed down from generation to generation, like good old preserved heirlooms. I am no exception to this and I am proud to admit that the source and inspiration to this blog is my mother's cooking. In addition to those cherished recipes, there are recipes of my own and also ones that are learnt and enjoyed so far from other real and virtual kitchens.
My parents are from Andhra Pradesh, India and they have been calling Bangalore, Karnataka their home for the past 4 decades. So we grew up eating the best food from both of the southern states. Here is a collection of those recipes and more, served on this platter for you to enjoy. Hope someday this blog would help my kids as well.
To me, my blog is a way of thanking my mom, a way of celebrating food and most importantly documenting my culinary journey.

Haii ..YOU have a nice blog with awesome recipes. Great
ReplyDeleteTHANK YOU so much for posting these recipes. I grew up eating Indian food because my best friend growing up was Indian....I never thought I'd actually try making the dishes myself until I became Vegan and found it very difficult to make meals that I enjoy. Now that I have realized that there are many vegan options in Indian food, I am turning my kitchen around. I'm very happy to have found your blog because your pictures offer much inspiration and your recipes seem easy to follow--I cannot wait to try one of your dishes! Thank you so much for offering your recipes to the internet-- very much appreciated. =)
ReplyDeleteThere are so many recipes on here that I'd like to try. I'm glad I found your site through foodbuzz!
ReplyDeletehi, your recipes are awesome. you should consider making a book out of them.

Hi
ReplyDeleteI love the simplicity of your recipes...typical home made food with just few ingredients and best part is they don't involve too many masalas or garlic.please keep posting more recipes and I would love to see how you would handle any Indo Chinese recipe. Please post it.I am sure you will modify it so beautifully well in ur simple way and yet make it delicious without adding too many spices.
Thanks
Thank you so much for your blog. My father and mother are from AP and my mother has some roots in Karnataka. It's been many years since I've lived at home and I have been homesick for my mother's cooking but she doesn't always know how to relate recipes to me. This is a great supplement to what she tells me. Seeing the terms in Telugu and Kannada brings back that nostalgia factor and maintains my connection with the languages and the recipes maintain my connection to my roots when a busy lifestyle and conveniences in the U.S. can lead you to become distant with them.
ReplyDeleteThank you again.
