Gasagasala Podi

Gasagasala podi - Poppy seeds powder

Gasagasala podi, one of the staple podis in my mother's kitchen happens to be a good accompaniment to hot, steamed rice and a spoon of ghee. Though it is simple in terms of looks and preparation, it is not so taste wise.
It takes about five minutes to prepare this yummy podi. Toast about 1/4 cup of white poppy seeds and 5 red chilies on low to medium flame for 3 -4 minutes. Cool them and grind into a powder adding salt as needed.

I am taking a short break and will be back in October.
