Brown Rice Dosa
Brown rice dosas served with chutney powder
After starting Jihva work out, I am using more brown rice in my diet than before. I have started to replace white rice with it even in breakfast items like dosas and idlis. Using brown rice does not change either appearance or taste of dosas.
Breakfast these days mostly is a brown rice dosa and a fruit.
Ingredients to make dosas:
Brown Rice - 1 cup
Urad dal - 1/4 cup
Chanadal - 2 Tbsp
Methi/Fenugreek Seeds - 1 tsp
Salt as needed
The 'How' part:
Soak rice, dals and methi seeds in plenty of water for at least 4 hours. Drain the water and grind the ingredients into a smooth batter adding as little water as needed. Add salt and mix well. Allow the batter to ferment overnight in a warm place.
Make dosas with the fermented batter in the morning.

Definitely a healthy dosa...i do prepare often dishes with brown rice..
Does it crunchy or dose the texture become soft after sometime? If it stays crunchy I would hop to brown rice dosai in a drop.
Suma, when you say brown rice...is it parboiled rice? The presentation looks very nice :)
nice, delicious and a healthy dosa.
Looks yummy.. Looks like normal white rice dosa itself.. Does it taste different with brown rice?
Healthy and delicious.. Thanks for sharing..
Srimathi,
They are exactly like regular dosas.
Manju,
Brown rice and parboiled rice are different. I think in the case of brown rice, only the husk of the grains are removed during the processing.
Nitks,
They taste similar to regular dosas.
Fantastic Post! Lot of information is helpful in some or the other way. Keep updating brown rice powder
